Our Commitment to Responsible Technology

If you’ve spent even a few minutes reading about artificial intelligence, you’ve probably come across the same concerns we have.
AI consumes enormous amounts of energy. It relies on vast data centres. It raises difficult questions about copyright, labour, privacy, and the environmental cost of technological progress.
These aren’t issues we ignore. They’re one of the reasons this page exists.
So why does Jacquerie use AI?
Because we also live in the world we’re trying to improve.
We’re a small independent brand. We don’t have the resources of global companies or the luxury of rejecting every technology that comes with compromise. AI helps us research, organise ideas, improve accessibility, and work more efficiently so that a small team can build something that would otherwise require many more people.
That doesn’t mean we believe AI is inherently good.
It means we believe pretending not to use it would be dishonest.
We don’t use AI to replace creativity. We use it to remove repetitive work so we can spend more time on the parts that matter: ideas, research, design, writing, and the causes we choose to support.
One day, we’d love to rely less on these tools. We’d love to commission more writers, photographers, illustrators, filmmakers, and researchers. We’d love to build in ways that leave a lighter footprint.
But we’re not there yet.
Until then, we’d rather be transparent about our compromises than perform values we haven’t fully achieved.
Responsibility isn’t about pretending to be perfect.
It’s about being honest about where you are, why you’ve made the choices you have, and continuing to do better as you grow.
That’s the standard we’re holding ourselves to.
